The explosive, emotional and unforgettable new romance from the NYT bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series

Alexa Holland's father was her hero-until her shocking discovery. Ever since, Alexa has worked to turn her life in a different direction and forge her own identity outside of his terrible secrets. But when she meets a man who's as damaged by her father's mistakes as she is, Alexa must help him.

Caine Carraway wants nothing to do with Alexa's efforts at redemption, but it's not so easy to push her away. Determined to make her hate him, he brings her to the edge of her patience and waits for her to walk away. But his actions only draw them together and, despite the odds, they begin an intense and all-consuming affair.

Only Caine knows he can never be the white knight that Alexa has always longed for, and when they're on the precipice of danger, he finds he'll do anything to protect either one of them from being hurt again . . .

Wendy's 5 Bare Naked Star Review

Let me start by saying, and I’m going to whisper it “ this was my first Samantha Young read”, *runs and hides*

Is it safe to come out of hiding now?  I have all of Ms Young’s books on my TBR and I’ve heard so many good things about her, but being a blogger doesn’t always mean we get to read the books we want to, until the opportunity presents itself.

So when the publishing house approached me with Hero, I jumped at the chance of finally reading one of her books.

Caine Carraway, quite frankly he is an arsehole (yes I’m British), arsehole, arrogant tosser, hot as sin, but not easily likeable given my earlier observations.

Alexa, what a sweetheart, feisty, funny, smart arse, I loved her, why were people so mean to her?  Her family, Caine, her boss! Good grief she was getting it from all sides.
Caine & Alexa’s first meeting does not go well, nor the second or third for that matter.

*******
The son of a bitch had to have some kind of physical flaw.  I was going to find it.  I was. “You’re late.” He curled his lip in annoyance.
Personality flaws, on the other hand…oh, I’d already found lot of those.
*******
“You can call him Caine, sweetheart.  He’s not a god.” “Do you think you could tell him that? Because I don’t think he knows.”

So in all honesty it took me a while to thaw to the very cold Mr Carraway, by 28% I was warming to him but then the SOB did it again and a few pages later I wanted to kick his snooty arse.

Seattle? With Caine? In a hotel?
I’d either kill him or screw him again.
“Fuck.”
“Alexa, the speakerphone is on,” Caine’s amused voice sounded from my desk.
Oh, balls.

When we finally find out the history of these two, it’s clear to see why this relationship was going to be a difficult one, however the more they got to know each other the more they started to need one another.

The revelations kept coming and it was Alexa who became the stronger of the two, fighting for what they had and more.

There was plenty of drama and twists that I didn’t expect but there was also a lighter side, playful banter and excellent secondary characters.

I stood back up to demonstrate and the shirt rode up, revealing my ass in the high cut panties – “it certainly won’t remind you of the way you bent me over the bed last night and had your wicked –“
“Fine,” Caine snapped, a tell tale flush visible on his cheekbones.  “I’ll find you some damn sweatpants.”
I grinned at his back as he wandered back into the walk in. “A wise decision, Mr Carraway.”

I really enjoyed my cherry popping experience of Ms Young and will be moving her other books up the TBR pile.
