**Saturday Spotlight** JR Gray presents Elodie Parkes

Saturday Spotlight

Hello, Gray here again and today I have Elodie Parkes who stopped by to talk about her new book The Summer Heat. She brought Nate along to answer some questions.

As an added extra from me check out the deleted scene from after Legally Bound posted after the interview!

The Summer Heat When lifelong friends Nate and Evan watch the arrival of a new neighbor, they never expect to find their friendship rocked by the lovely Annabel who moves into the empty house next door.

Annabel likes both Nate and Evan the moment she meets them. As they all grow close, will she be forced to choose between these gorgeous men?

Please tell us a little bit about yourself:

Hi everyone. (sits down with a smile)

I’m Nate from ‘The Summer Heat.’ I live in the coastal town setting of the story. I’m an architect with my own business. I’m nearly thirty. I like to keep fit. My buddy, Evan, and I go down the gym and lift weights. We swim and I’ve sailed with Evan on one of his catamarans. (he shows off his muscled torso and grins)

I’m lucky I guess, I just got the good genes, dark hair, blue eyes, I’m tall and yet at the moment in the story where readers meet me, I’m single and have not one girl on my radar. Go figure huh? (grins again)

Evan and me have been best friends all our lives and we share a house on a street that borders the estuary of the river leading down to the ocean.

There was this tree in the front yard. Little by little it dropped branches onto the sidewalk.

Sad huh? (shakes his head) So I hired a tree doc and we discovered it had this disease. It had to be chopped down or infect the whole street tree population.

It’s a hot summer’s day, Evan and me are in the front yard. We’ve got the tree down and shifted but the stump is proving a nuisance, (frowns and looks pained)

Then in the quiet of the shimmering heat we hear the sound of a large truck approaching. It’s a moving van. (Smiles) This is where Annabel arrives. (Sighs and looks down, clearly affected by the memory. Then looks up.)

That’s it folks, that’s all you get from me or the author might go nuts at me for giving spoilers.

Are you a neat person or a messy person?

I’m neat, I guess that’s down to my work.

What happens when you lose your temper?

I don’t really lose my temper. I kinda get saddened by something and get thoughtful.

Are you happy with the way people perceive you?

That’s a strange question. I’ve no idea how people perceive me actually.

Is humor important? Why or why not?

Oh yeah, because life can be difficult and disappointing and you gotta lighten up.

Is expressing love difficult for you? Why?

I find it easy to express love both physically and verbally. I can’t see the point in hiding it.

Does your author ever try to take over the story? And how do you deal with it?

She’s cool. She just lets us take over and run riot. (laughs) Seriously she does let us tell the story and develop with it.

If you were taken out of the story and placed into your author’s world, what would be the first thing you’d do?

I’d probably groan and take the next flight home. I love the ocean and couldn’t be away from it. Then there’s Evan and Annabel, I’m not leaving them in a hurry I can tell you. I might re-design that place she works at her day job, that’s one rabbit warren of a building. I’d take her dogs for a walk. Then I’d beg to go home. (gets down on one knee and pleads)

If you could pull your author into your world, what do you think would happen to them?

I think one of my friends would fall for her. She’s pretty, and slender, and single, yay. Yeah I’m sure she’d be snapped up and also Evan would give her a job. She’s great with computers and he’s not so he’d want her to run his office. (laughs aloud)

What was the best sexual experience you’ve had?

Now I don’t kiss and tell, and frankly the story is chock full of sex, so I’m not sure I should answer this. The author doesn’t know this because it happened after she wrote our story and recently. Me, Evan, and Annabel were on walking on the beach, the sun went down, it was still really warm, we reached one of the stretches of sand dunes and just fell on each other. Kissing, hugging, dragged off Annabel’s bikini and… well let’s say had truly slurpalicious sex then swam naked in the edge of the ocean. The moon had come up a little, the water was warm…(sighs) Annabel wrapped her arms and legs around me, I could feel her hot little pussy against me. (stops talking and shifts in his seat, runs his hands through his hair) I think I’ll stop there, is it getting hotter in here? is the air-con on?

What was the least interesting thing that has ever happened to you? (In bed or out.)

Please, grocery shopping has to take that prize.

What’s your take on Evan?

He’s my best friend. He’s one of those alpha type guys, but you should see him reduced to mush by the girl he loves. (grins)

If you were to spend a day with a reader, what would you two do together?

I’d show them around the town where I live because it’s gorgeous. I’d take them to lunch in the quayside restaurant. I’d ask them what they wanted to do and we’d do it. Well, up to a point. (silently mimes kissing and cuddling and shakes head, so obviously sex isn’t on the menu)

Where do you see yourself in the future? What do you hope to accomplish?

I see myself continuing to build up my business. I want to design a great big house to live in with my love. I hope things stay good between us. I’ll work on that.

If you could time travel and/or live anywhere in the world, where would you go and/or where would that be?

Is this a trick question? I’m happy, happier than I’ve ever been, why would I change that? (looks perplexed)

If you could change one facet of your life what would it be?

I have no answer. I’ve got a great life and I’m so lucky and grateful for it. I wish everyone the kind of love and friendship I have in my life. (smiles and leans forward to kiss my cheek)

Thank you for inviting me over here, it’s been great fun.

Excerpt:

They got through her front door before they leapt on each other.

Nate didn’t know how they got their clothes off. The haze of lust at the deliciousness of her kisses fogged his brain. They were in Annabel’s living room, and he was already pounding into her.

Her lips brushed against his ear. Her whispers and moans mingled with his moaning.

He held her under the ass and fucked her hard as she clung to him.

Her hands on his shoulders, she met his thrusts with her hips raised.

His orgasm started with his balls tightening so that he thrust into her as deep as he could. Into his heart dropped the need to make sure she came. He slowed down, kissed her lips, nibbled down her neck, and sucked there.

She bucked her hips to his.

He ground his cock on her clit as he slid into her again.

She moaned into his mouth.

Her pussy clenched around his cock as she pressed her body against him, and he knew she was coming. It filled him with love. He didn’t need to pound into her to come. His orgasm flowed over him as he kissed her. It buckled his knees and weakened his thighs as the ripples of sensation jerked his cock inside her. Nate groaned as Annabel’s tongue touched the tip of his. He pressed his stomach against her enjoying the pressure and satin texture of her skin on his. A melting sensation drifted over him, and he rested his forehead on her shoulder.

“How do you feel?” He whispered against her ear.

Exclusive scene from Legally Bound taking place between book one and two.

“Why are we new suit shopping again?” Daniel looked over at his partner, Jesse, who flipped through the racks at his favorite down town department store.
“I need a new suit.” Jesse avoided his eyes as he pulled out a purple button up and held it to his chest. “I like this color.”
“You have loads of purple shirts. You’re in one now.” Daniel fingered a light blue shirt. He needed something new to impress Rafael when they had dinner. He knew his dominant wanted to discuss something big, but he couldn’t even guess what it could be about.
“I do have purple shirts, this is lavender. You are a poor excuse for a gay man if I ever met one.” Jesse handed off the shirt to the woman who’d been hovering since they walked in the door. Daniel assumed Jesse was well known for dropping a lot of money at the store.
“Then what do you call yourself?”
“Epic, that is what I call myself.” Jesse huffed, and walked away to look at ties.
“Epic my ass, nowhere does it say I have to know all that color pallet crap to be gay.” He shoved the shirt under Jesse’s nose. “What do you think about this one?”
“No it doesn’t, but I’m pretty sure it’s in the gay charter that you have to know how to dress yourself, and that is all wrong for you. Look at how the blue washes out your skin tone.”
A smile licked at the corner of his lips as Jesse grabbed the shirt out of his grasp and tossed it aside. He left the table of ties he’d been perusing and grabbed Daniel a green shirt. Before handing it over he paired it with a few geometric ties.
“Much better, now I can focus.” He picked up three ties in quick succession and handed them off to the lady. He took a step towards the tie clips in the glass case but paused and turned back on Daniel. “And so help me god if that comes anywhere near the Calvin Klein black suit you keep pairing everything with, I will disown you.”
Daniel knit his brow, it was his favorite piece in his wardrobe. “I wasn’t going to, but which would you suggest.”
“The new charcoal gray one.” Jesse pointed a finger at him. “Promise me.”
“I promise.”
Jesse turned back around and started looking at tie clips inspecting a few before he settled on one. Daniel looked back and watched, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Tell me what this is for.” He hardened his gaze when Jesse looked over his shoulder.
“I told you I need a new suit.” The lie was written on his face.
“Don’t feed me that line, I haven’t seen you like this in a long time.” It all started to click into place. “What are you not telling me? There were those days last week you came in in rumpled suits too like they weren’t perfectly wrapped from your dry cleaner in your closet…Almost like they been in a travel bag…” His mouth dropped open as he trailed off. “What have you done?”
Jesse turned around and dragged a hand over his face. “Don’t do this to me.”
“Are you cheating?”
“I’m offended you’d even think so!” The hurt was apparent in his eyes.
“Jesse.” Daniel set his jaw.
“Cill and I got in a fight it’s not a big deal.” It felt like he was leaving something out. “But the two don’t have anything to do with each other. I have a dinner to go to and I wanted to look nice.”
“A dinner with Cill or someone else?”
Jesse pushed his tongue into the side of his cheek, and he was saved by the sales lady calling him over for his fitting room.
“We aren’t done talking about this,” Daniel called after him.
“Okay…”
