**Spotlight and Review* Salvation by Stephanie John

Salvation by Stephanie John
(Heal me #1)

A chance meeting turned my world inside out.

Intelligent, sexy, and rich. With a dash of roguish charm and a cocksure smile, Nathan Blake is the ultimate fantasy. He can have any woman he wants with only a glance.

And he wants me.

My past has left me broken and humiliated, wary of men like him.
I cut myself off from the pain, moving thousands of miles away to escape every reminder, determined to start anew.

I’ve been second best before. It isn't happening again.

One kiss and I'm caught under his spell, drawn to him with every breath I take.
I can't resist.
The passion that explodes between us becomes an intense connection
neither of us thought we’d share. Or need.

The suffering inside me reflects his – a pain I know he feels, but can’t bring himself to reveal.

I have no idea his love can heal me – that mine can heal him…
…if only I can let down my guard for him and trust.

Kara Collins is a talented, intelligent, and gorgeous accountant that is new to the states. She moved to LA after leaving her childhood home in England following a devastating broken heart. She has serious trust issues, and refuses to allow anyone to really see her....until a chance meeting with the CEO.

Nate Blake is all male, and undeniably gorgeous. When he sees Kara for the first time in the waiting area of his fifteenth floor office, he can't help himself. He has to meet her, and with one touch he knows Kara is different. He is determined to pursue her, and when she turns him down, his shock quickly gives way to a sense of challenge.

After a long minute when I thought he might’ve hung up, Blake quietly warned, “We will happen, Miss Collins.”

Kara meets his persistence with a determined tenacity of her own, refusing to become another notch on his bedpost. Their attraction is impossible to ignore, and Nate is positively brutal in his pursuit.

My tongue darted out to wet my lips. His gaze darkened as he leant closer and murmured, “Those luscious full red lips are begging to be kissed. Keep licking them? See what happens.”

The ensuing dance between them is sexy, sensual, and incredibly erotic....especially when Kara finally gives into Nate's persistent seduction and the electric attraction between them. As past hurts come to the forefront, fear nearly drives them apart.

Tears welled in my eyes. I couldn't imagine my life without him either. “I’m scared you're going to break my heart,” I blurted out of nowhere. “I can’t break it, baby. It’s already broken.” His forearms framed my head, his hands coming to brush the hair from my face as he moved inside me, his breaths coming heavier and deeper. “I’m going to fix it back together again. I promise you that.”

Their attraction grows into an all consuming love, but challenges and insecurities await the couple. The question soon arises...will their love be enough?

I will admit, when I first read the synopsis for Salvation, I thought it was going to be another predictable storyline of alpha male billionaire meets troubled beauty and turns her life upside down.  A story where his forceful nature sparks something in her, and makes her face her demons and heal her wounds.

I was wrong.

Nate Blake is the epitome of alpha male….gorgeous, well dressed, body of a god, dripping with sexual promise, and as persistent as an alpha male should be.

Nate Blake is also refreshingly REAL.

His unabashed pursuit of Kara is expected.  His gentle treatment, loving nature, and boyish moments of insecurity were the opposite, and incredibly endearing.  Nate will make you fall in love with him as quickly and surely as the sun will rise.

Kara Collins is a completely relatable heroine, with trust and body image issues that most of us have experienced ourselves. Her beauty goes far deeper than her golden hair, captivating eyes and mile-long legs, though. She is incredibly intelligent, brave, and kind, with an internal strength many of us long for.

I was enraptured and enthralled with the story, and Stephanie's descriptions of the environment, emotions, and situations her characters found themselves in were intoxicating. It set the tone for the book, and allowed me to see and feel exactly what she intended us to.

I can't wait to see what awaits Nate and Kara in the next book.

Most days, you'll find Stephanie John on a yacht, wearing a very skimpy bikini, drinking champagne, eating chocolate and never gaining weight.

When she isn't asleep and dreaming, in real life you're more likely to find her at the school gates, wearing whatever she dragged on that morning, drinking copious amounts of coffee. She still eats chocolate, though -- everyone has their vices, right?

Somehow, amidst the chaos of full-time mummy duties, she manages to write. Contemporary romance has always been her favourite genre to read for as long as she can remember (age-appropriate, of course).

Never in a million years did it occur to her to write one of her own. Now, she couldn't imagine doing anything else.

**Release Day** Natexus by Victoria L. James

Book: Natexus
Author: Victoria L James
Release Date: 31st January 2016
Genre: New Adult Romance

Synopsis

Seven breaths left in her chest, yet I looked back at him. He wasn’t meant to be there on the darkest night of my life, but the mysterious Alex Law continued to make a habit of showing up when I least expected him. With one look in his eyes, everything I’d ever been before him drifted away, and everything I was about to become revolved around him.

Grief threatened to ruin me no matter how hard I fought, and Alex had demons of his own to deal with, yet we found a comfort in each other’s pain. We found ourselves alone, two people becoming one. Just us. Natalie and Alex. Natexus. As long as we had each other, we thought we could make it through anything.

We didn't know there were things out there waiting to destroy us: people we couldn’t escape, fates we couldn’t outrun and regrets we couldn’t avoid. Not all love stories go the same way, and ours was about to take a turn neither one of us could have foreseen. All I could do was stand by and watch as my world fell apart for a second time.

I knew there had been life before Alex Law.

I just had to figure out if there was life after him…

That beautiful, tragic first love of mine.

~~ Natalie Vincent.

Wendy's 5 star review

If Natexus were an emotion it would be “intolerable heartbreak that ultimately heals you”

It’s one of those stories that will break your heart into pieces and even though you will look whole, you will never be the same again.

Here at BNW HQ Natexus is affectionately known as “THAT F*****G BOOK” – it broke us all and yet fixed us too.

Natalie, Alex & Marcus you will feel for them all.

Natalie has been through so much as such a young age, she is quiet, shy and brave.

“Seven breaths left in her chest, yet I looked back at him. He wasn’t meant to be there on the darkest night of my life, but the mysterious Alex Law continued to make a habit of showing up when I least expected him.”

Alex a beyond handsome young man, who’s ability to see Natalie’s struggle makes him wise beyond his years. He’s so protective toward her and yet he is hiding a dark secret that will ultimately be their downfall.

Life can be so unfair, young love should concur all, shouldn’t it?

“I knew there had been life before Alex Law.
I just had to figure out if there was life after him…”

Marcus is a hero in this story for me, devoted, funny and his arrival in Natalie’s life seemed like fate, as if the stars aligned and knew that this was what they both needed.  There was purpose to their relationship, which only really becomes clear toward the end of the book.  It made sense, it made me happy and sad, but it felt right.

The colour purple is both significant and profound, I can’t tell you why but it was one of the many moments that took my breath away.

I cried a lot throughout the book, I made several threats to Ms James wellbeing, she should think herself lucky she lives many miles from me.

I loved this book the first time I read it, I loved this book the second time I read it and I will love it every time I read it in the future, because it simply cannot be read only once.

Congratulations Plum, can’t wait to see you in Leeds, I shall be cashing in on that booby squeeze you promised  for breaking me.

All joking aside, it’s a very moving story, there were many moments in this book, that made me realise that Victoria L James is not just a wordsmith, she is an artist, painting a picture so vivid with her words that it is impossible not to see her characters, to feel the emotion and to care about their fate.

Author Bio

Victoria L James is a teenage girl stuck in a thirty-something year-olds body. Living somewhere 'oop north' in England, she has had a strong passion for words and stories going as far back as she can remember, which she credits to her grandmother and her love of reading anything that was on sale and cheap from the local market stall. Never once did she think she would release a novel, though. At best, she thought her love of language and her ability to create stories in her mind would provide her with a 'get out of jail free' card whenever she messed up and her parents were mad at her during her teenage years... and when even that didn't work out, she thought she was pretty much done for.

When an opportunity presented itself for her to take a back seat from paid working life for a few years, she knew straight away that she had to try and write about a few of these worlds she'd come up with along the way, and quieten all the voices in her head without racking up a heavy psychiatry bill for the pleasure.

Wearing her heart on her sleeve and trying to lighten her friends’ and family’s lives with naff, and more often than not, badly timed, nineties jokes, she has yet to learn the art of knowing when to shut up. Which is another reason writing became a passion of hers. With pen and paper, there are no limits.

A firm believer in never quitting, with a ridiculous obsession for all things Rocky, she hopes that one day she writes a story that will inspire at least one person out there to keep on going if they're struggling. Other than that, she's just a regular old converse wearing, corona sipping, English version of Chandler Bing, who loves and adores her family more than life itself. Oh, and she also has two cats. Every writer has to mention their cats, right?

I am loyal, but I will betray you.
I am strong, but I have scars.
I am an angel, but the devil.
I met her when I was sixteen and she was a breath of fresh air. She swooped in, making me smile. But then she left, taking my next breath with her.
Her smile could light up a room, making my black heart pitter patter.
I found her again ten years later, with a syringe in her arm.
Blood coming from between her legs.
She was broken and I was glad she was broken. She wouldn't think less of me and my damaged ways.

Review by Wendy

My reactions  as I read this book:

1 =  I like this book *smiles to myself and reads happily on*

2 = I do not like Black *rolls eyes & mutters arse hole a lot*

3 = Rose! What the hell woman? *ditch the dick*

4 = phew, hot, hot, hot *blows hair off forehead*

5 = I do not like TL Smith *86% OMFG, 91% god dammit author lady*

6 = I hate TL Smith, but admire her cojones for that ending  *sobs on and off for several hours, replays ending and shakes head, sobs, shakes head, sobs, sobs, shakes head*

Black is dark, Black is mysterious, Black is bad.  Or is he?

Rose is lost, abused, let down by those around her and barely surviving.

This was a brave story to write mainly because Black is not your classic hero, he is bad, dark and unapologetic for it. He is not easy to like.

His connection to Rose was something he had never forgotten and he had let it shape the way he dealt with women, trust me, it was not endearing.

But then he starts to win you over, and you are cursing yourself as he does, he’s bad, he’s closed off, so why am I overlooking that? I have no clue, but TL Smith wrote Black in such a way you can’t help but start to like him.

So Rose really stood no chance, she too was drawn in without really understanding why.

I read a review by another blogger, who described him as an emotionless shell and that really describes him perfectly.

However, as time goes by, he does things that warm your heart, and yet he never really drops the quiet brooding persona that he is.

Rose on the other hand has opened herself up to him, and when past and present collide, neither route open to her is safe.

Now for that ending, it takes balls these days for an author to leave you on a cliffhanger, reviewers can be critical of them, however I am a masochist for a cliffy.

Congratulations TL Smith, now let’s talk about book two lady.

Enshrine Excerpt:

She fiddles with her cosmopolitan. “I think you should get your eyes checked next time you’re at the doctor, Cal. He’s always watching you. It’s sexy, but it also creeps me the fuck out. He’s so dangerous.”

I laugh, playing it off, but I’ve noticed it too. “Is he looking over here now?” I ask, refusing to turn around to look for myself.

She leans forward, her eyes peering behind me. “He is. He’s not taking his eyes off us either.”

“He probably thinks we’re trouble or something,” I say and hope she drops the topic because I’d rather find out what she was going on about before.

“You can pretend like you don’t think he’s hot, Cal, but I’ve seen you flirt with him more than once.”

I shake my head and chuckle softly. “Smiling and saying hello isn’t necessarily flirting.”

“He has a thing for you.”

“He probably has a thing for every girl in this place.”

“Nope.” She shakes her head vigorously and puckers her lips. “He wants you.”
