Book 1 left us with Nila running - literally running for her life and freedom. Naked and scared she could never hope to succeed, but then she wins a battle in the war when she gains some sexual control over Jethro.
"Ive survived running through the woodland, climbing trees, and bringing you to an orgasm."
Nila is growing, in strength, determined to gain her freedom and retain her life, you see her true character shine throughout this book.
Jethro's true colours also start to seep through as he fights, unsuccessfully, the battle between nature and nurture. The lessons that Cut (his father) have taught him start to pale as his compassion and lust for Nila comes to the fore.
After Nila has paid the First Debt Jet struggles more and more until he can cope no more.
Nila starts to gain hope, starts to think she might be winning this war when the final blow is delivered, by none other than Kestrel, the one in the family she trusted overall and once again, she is brought to her knees and Ms Winters leaves us gasping and demanding book 3! :-)
