I enjoyed this book very much. The humor and banter was a very welcomed relief while the author brought forth some touchy subject matters. Keegan Hughes is such a smart a##, she has no filter and is willing to say what is on her mind at any time. She also has an unhealthy addiction to preparing for the zombie apocalypse, even if that means taking medication from a neighbor that he was throwing away. Being unprepared is not acceptable in her eyes.
Adrian Elliott is just as much of a wise cracker as Keegan and the sarcastic sparks flew fast between them. Keegan and Adrian are a riot together with his suggestive comments that she is looking at him with lustful desire, to her telling him his techniques with the women and sex don’t quite reach the category of dream sex. She was even so helpful as to give him one of her erotic books and told him she didn’t need it back because she knew what he would be doing while reading it. This is the kind of blunt humor you will encounter in this book and it was a delightful experience.
But as with everyone, something dark and painful in both Adrian and Keegan’s past made them to be like this today. She had walls to protect her that should have prevented any man from being able to reach inside but Adrian was just the one to do it. He also had to expose his secrets to her and risk his vulnerability and fear of rejection. So coming up with a crazy plan to accomplish a goal didn’t seem that crazy with these two, but it could be a game changer for their relationship.
I fall for characters quite often but with these two they made me want them as my best friends. I even woke my husband one night with my laughter during some of their silly banter. The author will also twist your heart when you get the rare chances to see past the masks they both wear and get the essences of their soul and fears. Our Kind of Love is such a beautifully written book that gives you everything you could hope for and leaves you wanting more.
