“Kate, it’s Mac. I need a ticket home, today,” I spit out,
my voice still shaky from spending the last hour crying.
“About freaking time, babe. Pack your stuff, go to the
airport, and I’ll see you soon.”
“Kate?”
“Yeah, babe?”
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Mac. I’m so glad you’re coming home.
Everything is going to be okay.”
I grab whatever I can and stuff it into the two suitcases I
have in the closet. I check that I’ve got only what I need, then carry the bags
to the front door. I take my key off my key ring and place it on the kitchen
counter. I take one last look around the empty room that has been my home for
the past six months. Scratch that, I can’t even say it’s been a home. A home is
full of love, and warmth, and for the past five months it’s been full of lies,
deceit and if I’m going to be honest, fear.
“Goodbye, Beau Gregory,” I whisper as I click the lock and
pull the door closed behind me.
Walking away from this life, I make a vow to myself; never
again will my life be dictated by a man, and never again will I let love lead
me astray.
But as I’ll soon find out not four years later, vows are
made to be broken.
My Review
B.J. Harvey: *Disclaimer - There
is absolutely no cheating in this book. However, this book does contain
descriptive and super-hot sex scenes that will make you blush and leave you hot
and bothered. Make sure you have you husband, partner, boyfriend or significant
other nearby when reading, or else batteries. Lots and lots of batteries*
I
think that sets the scene perfectly for this book….
The ghosts of Mackenna Lewis’ past are still shaping her future
and this leaves her with real commitment issues. She has been emotionally and
physically abused by her high school sweetheart and it took guts for her to run
away from him.
‘Walking away from this life, I make a vow to myself; never
again will my life be dictated by a man, and never again will I let love lead
me astray.’ Mac
This leaves her wanting nothing to do with a real relationship she
just wants friends with benefits. And
boy oh boy does she have her pick of those.
Mac leaves Beau and heads home to her best friend Kate, these
too are sassy ladies and the dialogue had me openly snickering along to myself,
and their friendship is 100% unwavering in their support and love for each
other. True best friends

They’ll walk over hot coals with you; they’ll tell you when you’re being dumb,
and they bail you out of trouble, unless they’re sitting right beside you in

So now she’s home Mac has thrown herself in to her work and her friends
with benefits relationships with three seriously hot guys, did I mention, seriously hot guys, Noah, Sean &
Zander. Mac meets each of them regularly
for hot, steamy encounters and quite frankly if Doctor Noah kept dragging me in
to the on call room for sex, you’d find me loitering by this room all day long!
Each man has his own unique talent and none of them want a long
term relationship which suits Mac just fine:

overuse? Misuse? Self –abuse? Mac’s
inner voice is quite frankly hysterical.
The text messages between Mac and Daniel are sexy & dirty:
Delicious Daniel: *bangs head against
wall* Damn, Mac I am going to need a cold shower. Now, naughty girl, how about you go and have a
cold shower too and I’ll see you in a couple of
hours ;-)
Mac: *pouts* okay, no fun
Like I said when these two meet its hot stuff, instant
attraction and maybe more, but as Mac battles with her feelings she allows past
demons to dominate her decisions and quite honestly she really started to
frustrate the hell out of me. Daniel is
adorable and patient but even he can only put up with so much.
“Tell
me you feel this, gorgeous? Tell me I’m not dreaming this…” -Daniel
“I’m feeling it, and it’s scaring the shit out of me…” – Mac
“I’m feeling it, and it’s scaring the shit out of me…” – Mac
“God,
I want to hate you for doing this to us, but I can’t,” he whispers, kissing my
forehead one last time before stepping back. “I could never hate you, Mac.
That’s why this fucking hurts so much.” - Daniel
Temporary Bliss is a make your day kind of read, once I started it was simply impossible to put
it down, I had to spend the day with Mac & those men in her life, I needed
to know what was going to happen. This
is not a read in two sittings kind of book.
I simply had to finish it. This
book cuddled up to me on the sofa, wrapped its arms around me, laughed with me,
cried with me and stayed with me.
Thank you BJ Harvey the epilogue was perfect and I can’t
wait for more.
